Officials asked to be alert
VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, has asked officials to be on an alert and undertake relief work on a war footing during the rain.
He gave away a compensation of Rs. 1 lakh to the family members of a boy killed in a roof collapse from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Mr. Ramachandran said that the Public Works Department and Panchayat Union officials were asked to monitor the storage in all tanks and to repair all affected roads.
The Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, said that the officials in the district would work round-the-clock.
