ALAPPUZHA: The government, keeping in mind the uniqueness of Kuttanad region, is committed to initiating more development-oriented projects in the area, Public Works Minister Mons Joseph has said. Speaking after inaugurating the Kidangara-Kannadi and Kunnamkari-Valadi roads near Pulinkunnu on Friday, Mr. Joseph the Public Works Department would take steps to complete the work on the Alappuzha-Changanassery road and the Kumarakomkari-Changanassery roads soon, the Minister said. Long wait endsThe two roads to be inaugurated on Friday would also signal the end of the local people’s dependence on boats to reach the mainland with the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to operate services on both roads via Pulinkunnu, Kavalam, Kannadi, Kunnumma and Mankombu among other areas. Thomas Chandy, MLA of Kuttanad, Public Service Commission member K.C. Joseph, KSRTC Executive Director G. Venugopal and others were present.
