Kumaraswamy recovering

Bangalore: The former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who underwent an open heart surgery on Thursday, is recovering well and all his vital health parameters are fine.

Director of the Government Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology C.N. Manjunath who has been attending on Mr. Kumaraswamy, said the former Chief Minister on Friday sat on a bedside chair and even read the newspapers. He is now on a liquid diet and had a bowl of tomato soup and thereafter a glass of buttermilk.

Mr. Kumaraswamy will be in the intensive care unit for another day and will later be shifted to a private ward.

Vivek Jawali, who headed the team of cardio-thoracic surgeons, said Mr. Kumaraswamy was alert and was responding well. He had been taken off the ventilator within hours after the surgery.
