Former Transco director dead

Special Correspondent

G. Kesava Rao

HYDERABAD: G. Kesava Rao, former director (Transmission & Grid Operation), AP Transco, died of cancer on Friday at Apollo Hospital, where he was admitted 20 days ago.

He was 64 and is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.

A pall of gloom descended over Vidyut Souda from where he guided power supply operations for four crucial years till last year.

Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Energy Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir condoled the death, recalling his services, especially in making the transmission and distribution system “robust”. A man of hard work and integrity, he saved the State grid many times from tripping and played a key role in making the free power supply to farm sector a success.

Joining the erstwhile APSEB in 1964, he served Central Electricity Authority for long before being appointed as Transco director.
