Yatra allowed with riders

Correspondent

CHIKMAGALUR: The district administration has decided to allow the Sangh Parivar to conduct Shoba Yatra in Chikmagalur on Saturday on the eve of Datta Jayanti after imposing several conditions.

Chikmagalur Deputy Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh told presspersons here on Friday that the conditions include limiting the number of persons participating in the yatra to 5,000, shouting of slogans to be restricted to those approved by the authorities and following the prescribed route.

The Shoba Yatra is scheduled to start from the Kamadhenu Ganapathi temple at 2 p.m. and conclude at the Bolarameshwara temple after passing through Basavanahalli Extension and I.G. Road.

The conditions imposed are similar to those imposed last year.

He said members of the Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike have been denied permission to take out a procession on Saturday.
