Bangalore: The Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike has demanded that Sangh Parivar leaders, who have in the past made inflammatory speeches in Chikmagalur during Shobha Yatra and Datta Jayanti celebrations, be prohibited from entering the town in the course of the celebrations this year on Saturday and Sunday. CD releasedAt a press conference here on Friday, vedike members released a CD of “hate speeches” delivered by Sangh Parivar leaders during the years 2002 and 2003 to emphasise the need to ensure that such acts of provocation were not repeated this year. The CD shows leaders, including Pramod Muthalik of Srirama Sene and former BJP MLA C.T. Ravi, making speeches on Bababudangiri Hill and in Chikmagalur town. As speeches run, the subtitles show constitutional provisions flouted by the speakers. The vedike is demanding that former MLAs Jeevaraj and Sunil Kumar, Mahendra Kumar of Bajrang Dal and Bhartiya Janata Party leader Ananth Kumar also not be allowed into the town during the celebrations. Vedike members, while welcoming the 19 conditions laid down by the district administration in holding the yatra and Jayanti this year, said that politically-motivated events of the kind which masquerade as religious practices should be banned by the State. The vedike, they said, would monitor whether the conditions were honoured by the Parivar over the next two days. The press conference was addressed by Ko. Chennabasappa, Prof. Shivaramiah, Nagari Babiah, Patapat Nagaraj and others of the vedike.
