120 acres allotted for space institute

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has issued orders allotting 120 acres in Ponmudi for the space institute.

Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran said here on Friday that the Cabinet which met on November 21 decided to allot 100 acres in survey no.3994 of Thennur village in Ponmudi for the institute.

The ISRO had sought 25 acres in addition to it in Upper Sanatorium. The last Cabinet meeting which considered the request decided to allot 20 acres.

The Thiruvananthapuram District Collector had been asked to take immediate steps to survey the 120 acres and hand it over to ISRO before December 31. The copies of the order had been sent to the ISRO chairman, ISRO Director and the Director of the space institute.
