TUMKUR: Janata Dal (United) leader J.C. Madhuswamy said here on Friday that the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would be invited to head the proposed third front in Karnataka. Mr. Madhuswamy told presspersons that his party, the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samajwadi Party had been actively considering forming the third front in Karnataka. He said: “Consensus will be forged among all the allies of the front to project Siddaramaiah as its Chief Ministerial Candidate in the ensuing Assembly Election.” Sharply reacting to a statement by the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa (at his press meet in New Delhi recently) that the Bharatiaya Janata Party would go to polls “all by itself”, Mr. Madhuswamy, who is a Lingayat, said: “Mr. Yeddyurappa has announced the decision unilaterally. The JD(U) has not been consulted about it". He said the national-level leaders of the BJP were yet to rule out possibilities of continuing the BJP-Janata Dal (United) alliance in the next election. He expressed his dismay over the hurry with which Mr. Yeddyurappa made the statement.
