Kozhikode: The Hindu Aikya Vedi has alleged that it is the inept approach of the prosecution that resulted in two of the accused in the Marad massacre case getting bail from the Kerala High Court. At a meeting here on Thursday, Kummanam Rajasekharan, State general secretary of the Hindu Aikya Vedi, alleged that the government was trying to help the accused in the case. “The prosecution helped the accused to get bail with the government’s tacit approval,” he alleged. Accusing the LDF government of taking a soft line in the case, he said it was evident from the government’s lack of interest to act on the findings of the Marad judicial commission. The government was yet to take serious action against those indicted by the judicial commission even though it accepted the findings of the commission, Mr. Rajasekharan said. The Vedi leader alleged that the government had betrayed the trust placed on it by the Hindu community who hoped that those behind the massacre would be brought to book.
