‘Stop misuse of column’

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram East MLA V. Sivankutty has written to Minister for Public Works Mons Joseph urging him to impose restrictions on the use of the platform in front of the Martyrs’ Column at Palayam.

In a memorandum, Mr. Sivankutty said the platform was being frequently used for commercial purposes. Expressing anguish over the misuse, he said the sanctity of the column, that was established in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their life for the nation, was at stake.

The space is being used to host loan melas and vehicle exchange festivals, he said.
