KARIMNAGAR: Amid unprecedented security arrangements, CPI (Maoist) Central Committee member Malla Raji Reddy and his wife, Suguna alias Sangeetha, were produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate in Metpally town on Friday evening. The magistrate, G Malathi, remanded the duo to judicial custody up to January 3, 2008, in Cherlapalli jail in Hyderabad. The police also filed a petition for the custody of the naxalite couple for the investigation of several cases. The arguments of the police petition would be held on December 24. With the permission of the magistrate, the naxalite leader talked with his advocate Satyanarayana and his daughter, Srilatha, for about 10 minutes. He raised slogans such as ‘Viplavam vardhillali.’ Later, the police escorted the naxalite couple to Cherlapalli jail in a vehicle with tight security cover. Six cases filedThe Karimnagar police filed six cases, including three of murder and three of rioting and other cases against the naxalite leader. Arrested in KeralaThe State police arrested the naxalite leader in Kerala and bought him on transit warrant. Raji Reddy was reportedly involved in many cases, including six murders, five landmine blast cases including the killing of former Assembly Speaker D Sripada Rao and IPS officer C Umesh Chandra. He was also involved in the attack on Sirpur (U) police station in Adilabad and killing of an SI and 12 other police personnel and snatching away of weapons. He was involved in the attack on Karekegudem police station in Khammam district along with 100 armed naxalites and killing of 16 police personnel and snatching away of 32 weapons and ammunition. He also involved in the attack on railway police in Bellampalli of Adilabad district, landmine explosions in Gadchiroli in Maharashtra, which claimed the lives of six police personnel and several other cases.
