ECO-FRIENDLY FUEL: M.S. Srinivasan, Secretary, Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, inaugurating the auto LPG dispensing outlet of the Indian Oil Corporation at Shanti Service Station on Tiruchi Road, near Singanallur, in Coimbatore on Friday.
Coimbatore: The first automobile LPG dispensing station of the Indian Oil Corporation and automated fuelling system was inaugurated at Shanti Service Station on Tiruchi Road near Singanallur by Secretary, Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, M.S.Srinivasan, on Friday.
The city has two auto LPG dispensing stations of Bharat Petroleum and Hindusthan Petroleum on Mettuppalayam Road and at Ukkadam.
Mr. Srinivasan was accompanied by G.C. Daga, Director (Marketing), IOC and Deepak Pandya, General Manager, IOC, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The auto gas station established at Rs. 50 lakh has taken the total number of such stations to 15 in Tamil Nadu. Indian Oil officials pointed out that work was on for five more dispensing stations which would be completed before the end of March. A gas station at Ukkadam was likely to be commissioned by next month. Across the country, IOC had 125 stations and 53 more would be established before the completion of the current fiscal.
Of the total sale of 99,300 tonnes of auto LPG in the country during April – September 2007, Indian Oil had sold 44,000 tonnes accounting for a market share of 44.3 per cent.
Auto LPG was a clean auto fuel with lesser proportion of polluting elements such as Carbon Monoxide. It was an economical fuel in terms of cost advantage vis-À-vis other auto fuels, the officials said.
Mr. Srinivasan also launched the automated fuelling system at the petrol pump. The project carried out at Rs. 20 lakh marks a distinct technology upgradation in the fuelling system. The automation involves integration of flow fuel from the tank to the dispensers including monitoring of the stock levels on real time basis. This will lead to automated comprehensive quality control in transit/storage/dispensing of fuel and give the assurance of correct quantity of fuel to the customers, besides automatic billing.
