NEW DELHI: The Vodafone Delhi Half-Marathon, to be held here on October 19 next year, has been given a gold label by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The Delhi event is among the 12 road races that have been granted the gold label for next year. The gold labels events include the London Marathon, Boston Marathon, Beijing International Marathon and New York Marathon. The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon is a silver label event. The labels are granted to races that satisfy a number of criteria concerning organisational standards, course measurement, safety and medical standards and media services. The deciding factors would be the number of ‘elite athletes’ competing in the event and international television coverage. — Special Correspondent
