GE engines for Bangladesh
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: GE Energy has bagged its largest order for supply of Jenbacher gas engines to support a major rural electrification initiative in Bangladesh. The engines will generate about 81 MW in electricity at four new power plants to support developing areas. GE is supplying 28 of its Jenbacher natural gas-fuelled engine type to Doreen Power Generation and Systems and Doreen Power House and Technologies, which are subsidiaries of Asian Entech Power Corporation and Saiham Power Plant, respectively based in Dhaka, according to a company release.
The gensets will support the national grid, utilising the region’s natural gas supplies as a primary fuel source to generate electricity and thus help Bangladesh meet its fast-growing demand for power.
