Vedike releases VCD of hate speeches by Sangh Parivar

Staff Correspondent

‘It is to convince people of its ‘real’ intentions’

MYSORE: Leaders of Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike (KKSV), here on Friday, released a video compact disc (VCD) containing what they described as ‘hate speeches’ delivered by leaders of the Sangh Parivar, including Pramod Mutalik, during Datta Jayanthi celebrations prior to 2003, to convince the people on the ‘real intentions of the Sangh Parivar’.

While welcoming the ‘conditional permission’ accorded by the Chikmagalur district administration to the Sangh Parivar for holding the Shobha Yatra in Chikmagalur townon December 23, the district unit of KKSV observed that the ‘real’ intention of Sangh Parivar was to stir communal tension in the region.

Leaders of KKSV, including Dr. M.P. Purnananda, Dr. V. Lakshiminarayana, K.R. Gopalakrishna, H. Govindaiah, P. Mallesh and Kaleem said in a release that Sangh Parivar was not observing either Shobha Yatra or Datta Jayanthi for religious reasons. It had a ‘hidden agenda’ of politicising the issue by creating communal tension in the society, they added.

On releasing a CD of hate speeches to substantiate their stand, the leaders said that the KKSV had handed over the VCD to Chief Minister Dharam Singh in 2004, to unmask the agenda of Sangh Parivar. The KKSV was releasing the VCD again in public, to educate the people.

They said that the Sangh Parivar was trying to convert Bababudangiri as Ayodhya of south India since 1992, by commencing religious practices, which was against the court direction. Chikmagalur district administration was also succumbing to the pressure of the Sangh Parivar, they said. However, it was the KKSV which presented the ‘truth’ to the people in 2003, and brought pressure on the Government against allowing the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal activists to conduct religious rituals at the hill shrine.

Because of KKSV’s consistent efforts, it had succeeded in protecting the tombs atop the hill.
