‘Wedding and honeymoon’ segment is one of its latest products promoted by the TAT Good response to the wedding segment introduced three months ago HYDERABAD: If one no longer keen about the same old wedding format of a five-star venue and on the look for some exotic place for a wedding celebration without making much difference to the pocket, then Thailand can be an ideal destination. Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is promoting new range of products to reinforce Thailand’s position as a year-round destination for tourists from India and ‘wedding and honeymoon’ segment is one of its latest products. Other attractionsOther latest attractions in Thailand are world class biggest mall, ‘Central World’- with restaurants, multiplexes, hundreds of showrooms, with blend of Asian and western styles under one roof, a hi-tech show ‘Siam Niramit’, reflecting history and culture of Kingdom of Siam (former name of Thailand). On a road show to city on Wednesday as part of its multi-city travel road show ‘Amazing Thailand’ TAT focussed on several of its amazing destinations of culture and heritage, beach resorts, water and adventure sports, eco-tourism and wellness, festivals and trends (night life, shopping, fashion et al). “The market is so competitive one has to offer and promote new products that will keep attracting tourists and India is an important market for us,” said Director, TAT, New Delhi, Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya. Apart from popular places like Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, there are other equally fascinating destinations that need to be introduced to Indian tourists. Arthit Sehgal, Director, Shaadi in Thailand Co. Ltd., said response to wedding segment introduced three months ago was very good. “For Indians, weddings are big spending events. While Thailand is not cheap, Indian hotels are becoming expensive. We have packages to suit various budgets including middle class and the lowest package per person for two days is 199 US $ apart from airfare.” Online bookingThe client just has to book online www.shaadinthailand.com a month before and give out his/her preferences about cuisine, ambience, type of wedding, and everything from ‘sangeet’, ‘mehendi’, ‘barat’, pundits, priests would be provided once they land here. So far eight weddings were performed in Thailand and 20 were booked for next year, he said.
