Both runways used
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A day after simultaneous use of the runways at Indira Gandhi International Airport here was discontinued resulting in congestion and flight delays, both runways were used on Friday though visibility was poor in the morning because of fog.
Delays due to fog
Despite the use of the primary (10-28) and secondary (9-27) runways on Friday, there were several delays -- both domestic as well as international arrivals and departures.
Simultaneous use of the runways begins at 6 a.m. on a normal day, but on Friday it started at 10-45 a.m. due to poor visibility that lasted till 1-20 p.m., said ATC sources. The primary runway was then shut for nearly three hours which is routine.
