Licences for non-conforming industries

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has decided to grant licences to industries functioning from non-conforming areas in rural areas across the Capital to shield them from the sealing drive. Twenty-two such areas have been identified and designated for development under the Master Plan for Delhi-2021.

In a statement on Friday, MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta said: “Industrial activities have been carried out in these areas for the past several years and owners of these industries have been subjected to threats of relocation due to non-renewal of factory licences. These industries have also been plagued by the fear of sealing.”

Terms and conditions

According to Mr. Gupta, applications for licences would now be invited from such work outfits and granting of licences would be based on certain terms and conditions. The industries will have to provide a structural safety certificate. The application forms are available at the CSF centres present in each zone.

The areas for which licences will be issued include Anand Parbat, Shahdara, Samaipur Badli, Jawahar Nagar, Sultanpur Mazra, Libaspur, Peeragarhi village, Rithala and Haiderpur.
