A movie worth watching

Bhumika in a still from Anasuya

Film: Anasuya

Cast: Bhumika, Ravi Babu

Direction: Ravi Babu

Anasuya is a director’s movie. Ravi Babu, as director, maintains total grip right from the word gotill the last scene of the movie and as an actor here, for the most part, is solid.

The direction here is an improvement over ‘Sogaadu’ and ‘Party’ and we get a much more mature and intelligent script, which keeps the film moving ahead at a swift pace. It keeps the story and characters both coherent and intere sting... both of Bhumika as well as himself.

Bhumika excels

The entire cast does a good job and Bhumika gives a strong performance and is a standout here.

Bhumika plays an undercover reporter for a television channel (thankfully not the sissy types who screams and wails when she spots blood and dead bodies).

She is courageous and shows the right amount of empathy in the combination scenes with the little girl and never overdoes her bit.

The kid too with her glum expression lends credibility to the story.

There is a disgusting scene when the villain picks up the finger that’s chopped and coolly places it in his pocket but that’s the vision of a disturbed character.

Though the premise is silly and nobody expects this sort of film to be a model of logic, Ravi Babu stretches the viewers’ willingness to believe.

The dialogues are okay but not over the top. There are no twists in the story but every death is convincing.

The villain has put in his share of effort to look like a nerd and Nikita as a medico shines in the confrontation scenes.

Abbas in a brief role is supportive and the item song is unnecessary.

This genre gives us everything -- the chills and the thrills that the audiences have been waiting for.

Suspense

The suspense is revealed at the right time and the film has a small dose of genuine fun.

Anasuya delivers the goods.
