6 per cent reservation for Arunthathiyars sought

VELLORE: Founder-president of Arunthathi Makkal Katchi Valasai E. Ravichandran has urged the State government to grant six per cent reservation in government jobs and seats in educational institutions to Arunthathiyars within the 18 per cent reservation for Scheduled Castes, based on the ratio of Arunthathiyars to the population.

In a release, Mr. Ravichandran said that the 18 per cent reservation for the SCs was being utilised by persons belonging to only a few communities.
