PUDUCHERRY: President Pratibha Patil on Saturday wound up her two-day visit to Puducherry. The Airforce Helicopter, in which she travelled to Chennai, left the helipad around 12 noon after a farewell. Lieutenant Governor Mukut Mithi, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, his Cabinet colleagues, MPs, MLAs and senior government officials were present. Earlier in the day, Ms. Patil offered prayers at the Manakula Vinayagar temple. She was received with the traditional ‘poorna kumba mariyadhai.’ She visited the Aurobindo Ashram and paid floral tributes to the samadhis of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. After spending some time at the meditation hall, she visited Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education and viewed a handicraft exhibition . She listened to children reciting verses of Sri Aurobindo . Primary school children performed a marching drill set to a patriotic song. Ms. Patil listened to a message of the Mother on the future of India. Trustees of Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust Manoj Das Gupta, Avinash Patel, Dilip Datta and Prabhakar welcomed the President. She was accompanied by Mr. Mithi and Mr. Rangasamy.
