Re-appointment causes “storm” in BJP

Staff Correspondent

DEHRA DUN: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttarakhand has taken the appointment of Congress leader Lakshmi Rana as a member of the State Consumer Disputes and Redressal Commission for a second term “seriously” and steps are being taken to have it cancelled, said the party leader in charge of Uttarakhand, Anil Jain, here over the weekend.

“Unfortunate”

Referring to the appointment as unfortunate, Dr. Jain said the Chief Minister had expressed his displeasure to Disaster Management and Revenue Minister Diwaker Bhatt for appointing a Congress leader to the post when there were a large number of competent persons within the ruling combine.

Mr. Bhatt hails from the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal and is said to have been influenced by some senior Congressmen for the appointment.

Dr. Jain refused to entertain suggestions that Mr. Diwaker Bhatt be sacked.
