SHIMLA: The Kolkata-based mega chain of retail stores, Vishal Retails Limited, launched its 80th Mega Mall here on Saturday.

The new store with an 11,000 sq. ft. area has added to the total shopping area of 1,891,594 of the mega mart chain in 55 cities across India. “In Himachal it is our second operation after the first establishment in the industrial areas of Baddi,” said Vineet Bajaj, Manager of the new mall.

“A similar store was opened in Agra also today,” he added. The retail company claimed that the prices in all fully integrated Vishal Mart Stores are 15 to 20 per cent less than in the other mass market chains. The stores specialise in readymade garments, household products, fast moving consumer goods and electronic goods.

The company recorded a turnover of more than Rs.600 crore in 2006-07 compared to a turnover of Rs.288 crore in 2005-06, said Mr. Bajaj.
