EXPRESSING SOLIDARITY: TDP leaders K. Yerrannaidu, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, K. Kala Venkata Rao and others taking part in the coconut farmers’ agitation in Amabajipeta on Saturday.
Ambajipeta (East Godavari): Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader K. Yerrannaidu has said the party MPs will stall the proceedings in next session of Parliament on farmers’ issue, particularly on the price of paddy, coconut and sugarcane.
Addressing coconut farmers at Ambajipeta in Konaseema on Saturday along with party leaders Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao, Metla Satyanarayana, Bandaru Satyanarayana and others, he said that both Central and State governments were negligent on farmers’ issues. He recalled that coconut farmers had been deprived of minimum support price since 1999 and only former Speaker G.M.C. Balayogi fought for the benefit of coconut farmers. Because of the TDP’s pressure on Union and State governments, paddy farmers get only bonus amount of Rs.100. He said the party would fight for the welfare of coconut farmers in other areas also.
Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, PAC Chairman, said that TDP would continue agitation on coconut and paddy farmers in State as well as in the district. He said that the collective effort of party had resulted in getting minimum support price for coconut farmers in the past also.
Mr. Kala Venkata Rao also spoke.
