After torturing his old father to death, Chandrasekhar fled from the scene ANANTAPUR: In a bizarre incident in Dharmavaram, a son allegedly killed his father in a barbaric manner as the latter did not yield to his demand for money. Seventy-five-year-old Beere Ramakeshavulu, a former councillor of the municipality, was found dead in his house by the neighbours on Saturday morning. According to the police, quoting the neighbours and wife of the deceased, Subbamma (70), Ramakeshavulu had four sons and a daughter. The youngest Chandrasekhar was living with his parents in the house constructed by his father in Laxminagar. Heated argumentOn Friday, Chandrasekhar had a heated argument with his parents and after his children retired to bed, he picked up a quarrel with his mother. He beat her till she fell unconscious and later dragged her into the room where his children were asleep and bolted the door from outside. As Ramakeshavulu refused to part with his savings, Chandrasekhar tied his father’s hands and legs with a rope, beat him up mercilessly, inflicting cuts on his body with a blade. Unable to withstand the torture, the old man died. On seeing this, the son fled from the scene. Neighbours who rushed into the house on hearing the wife and grandchildren cry from their locked room, found Ramakeshavulu dead. Court verdictAccording to them, Chandrasekhar was a victim of all types of vices and hardly had a source of income. His wife too deserted him leaving behind three children. She had filed a case of dowry harassment and the court had granted a divorce recently directing Chandrasekhar to repay the dowry amount to his wife’s parents along with a monthly payment of maintenance amount to his wife Anita. From then onwards, Chandrasekhar had been forcing his parents to give him money to repay the dowry stating that it was they who had utilised the amount at the time of his marriage. He used to constantly trouble his parents. Dharmavaram DSP Sivaiah registered a case.
