UDF clears Jacob group’s re-entry

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The United Democratic Front (UDF) on Saturday approved Kerala Congress (Jacob)’s re-entry into the front. Addressing a press meet, UDF convener P.P. Thankachan said a UDF meeting had discussed the issue. The stage was set for the decision after Kerala Congress (M) leader K.M. Mani made a declaration at the UDF committee meeting that he was not opposed to the move. Mr. Thankachan said a decision on the date of Mr. Jacob’s entry had to be deferred.

He had quit the Front and merged with the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran). However, Mr. Jacob parted ways when the DIC (K) merged with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
