Kodela objects to Union Minister’s remarks

‘People will decide real heir of NTR’

GUNTUR: Former minister and Telugu Desam Party senior leader Kodela Siva Prasada Rao has taken strong exception to the statement made by Union Minister for Human Resource Development Daggubati Purandhareeswari hailing Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as the real heir of N.T. Rama Rao.
“Ms. Purandhareeswari may be an heir to the legacy of N.T. Rama Rao by her lineage, but she is not related to TDP and hence has no moral authority to call Dr. Reddy as the heir to NTR,” he told mediapersons here on Saturday.
He termed the statement as unfortunate, shameful and unwarranted. “The Union Minister might have uttered the words to please Dr. Reddy, but it is the people of the State who will decide the issue,” he said.
‘All-round failure’
Earlier, launching a scathing attack on the State Government, Dr. Rao said that governance in the State had touched an abysmal low. He said that while the Chief Minister praised Sonia, the ministers shower praises on Dr. Reddy and the rank and file of the party praise the Ministers. He also said that it was ridiculous that the birthday of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was celebrated across the State with senior Ministers and bureaucrats attending the function.
People of the State would teach a befitting lesson to the Congress-led government in the next elections, he added.
