Man kills three-year-old daughter

Staff Reporter

NALGONDA: Kaasula Venkataiah (35), allegedly throttled his second wife’s daughter Shivaleela (3) to death for unknown reasons at Halia on Friday night.

According to Halia Inspector T. Manohar Reddy, he married Lakshmamma after the demise of his first wife five years ago. “As he had two children from the first alliance, Venkataiah didn’t wish to have another child from the second alliance.

He allegedly began torturing his wife after she gave birth to Shivaleela,” the CI said. Lakshmamma went for agricultural work leaving behind Shivaleela along with family members on the fateful night. When she returned home on Saturday morning, she found her daughter dead.

“He might have strangulated the kid with a rope. The exact provocation for him to commit the offence is not known,” the officer said adding that Venkataiah is on the run and the police have launched a manhunt after booking a case, the CI said.
