Four persons run over by car

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Four persons were run over by a speeding car at the Agraharapatti bridge bus stop on the Virudhunagar-Sattur highway on Saturday.

The driver of the car, which was proceeding to Madurai, was trying to overtake a bus.

The driver and the passenger fled, abandoning the vehicle, the police said. The deceased were identified as C. Yogalakshmi (11), R. Malaiazhagu (40) and I. Murugeshwari (21) of Agraharapatti and M. Velmurugan (7) of Alamarathupatti. — Staff Reporter
