Staff Reporter
TIRUPUR: The Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) of Tamil Nadu has identified 250 acres of land at Kandiyankovil near Pongalur for the proposed integrated textile park.
Its chairman and managing director D. Rajendran on Thursday visited the spot and later held elicited views from the exporting community of Tirupur at the Tirupur Exporters’ Association.
He said the SIDCO would provide all basic amenities including road, electricity and water to the industrial estate. After assessing the response from entrepreneurs, the SIDCO would initiate the project further.
Mr. Rajendran said that the SIDCO was focusing on promoting industrial clusters to sustain the backward for forward integration of the particular industry. All the industrial estates in the State would be upgraded further in a phased manner by taking three every year. TEA secretary G. Karthikeyan, vice-presidents S. Duraisamy and N. Chandran and several others listed out the priorities of the knitwear industry.
