Chandigarh: Sher-e-Jalandhar thrashed Chennai Veerans 2-0 to open its account in the fourth Premier Hockey League here on Sunday.
Gagan Ajit Singh and Jugraj Singh scored for the winner. Dilawar Hussain, the guest player from Pakistan, who was active in the Shers’ frontline was declared man of the match.
In another match Maratha Warriors notched up its second successive victory defeating Bangalore Hi-Fliers 2-0 in a fast-paced encounter in the afternoon.
Dhananjay Mahadik struck a drag flick and his grounder beat Chetri in Bangalore goal.
Warriors struck again to seal the issue. Following a defensive lapse in the midfield, Warriors Korean import Kweeom Moon darted into the circle and dodged past an advancing goalkeeper to redeem his two lapses earlier.
