Introduce more link trains

Train No. - 2722 Nizamuddin-Hyderabad Dakshin Express and train No. 2862 Nizamuddin-Visakhapatnam Link Express runs between Nizamuddin and Kazipet. Similarly, train No. 2861 Visakhapatnam-Nizamuddin Link Express and train No. 2721 Hyderabad-Nizamuddin Dakshin Express runs between Kazipet and Nizamuddin.

I suggest that Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad Link Express be introduced as train No. 2862 to run with train No.2861 up to Kazipet and then with train No. 2722 up to Hyderabad. Also, in the return direction, Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam Link Express could run with train No. 2721 up to Kazipet and then run with train No. 2862 to Visakhapatnam.

Road in darkness

The rail-over-bridge road from Rajiv Gandhi statue to R and B guest house in cantonment area, Vizianagaram, an extremely busy stretch with buses and lorries plying, is in complete darkness owing to non-functioning of streetlights. Buses from Visakhapatnam to Bobbili, Parvathipuram, Srikakulam and other places take this road and there is an imminent danger of accidents on the route.

I appeal to the authorities concerned to provide lighting on the road, which would also be helpful to morning walkers.

No serious effort

The debate on sanitation in the Greater Visakha Municipal Council recently left behind much heat but no light was thrown on the fact as to how to solve the perpetual poor sanitary conditions in the city. Lack of will on their part is driving the situation from bad to worse.

The officials fail to discipline their workforce and create awareness among the public, which throws garbage on the roads. A classic example is the underground drainage system which was launched in some areas as early as 1999 and is yet to be completed. There is need for a change in the attitude of all the concerned.

Traffic woes

On the completion of the road-widening works in western parts of Kakinada, the city now looks more beautiful. The Balajicheruvu junction has become an important and busy nerve centre of the city as four roads from all the directions of the city meet here.

Also, the TTD kalyanamandapam where marriages and cultural functions are held regularly, is located here. However, the rise in vehicular traffic, particularly autorickshaws, is giving pedestrians a tough time as they are finding it difficult to cross the road. There is a need to post a traffic warden at this place and the lone traffic constable looks helpless standing in a corner.
