KOLLAM: Though 29 MPs from Kerala could have utilised Rs. 406 crore from their local area development funds from 2001-02 to 2007-08, records show that only Rs. 297 crore has been spent. It means that Rs. 109 crore has lapsed, says the report of a study conducted by the Kollam Residents’ Apex Council, which, it says, relied on Lok Sabha statistics. Copies of the report were provided to the press by the council here on Saturday. In a statement, C. Amalolbhavan, general secretary of the council, said each MP got Rs. 2 crore a year. ‘All MPs responsible’He said the Lok Sabha members during the period were responsible for a lapse of Rs. 70 crore and Rajya Sabha members, Rs. 39 crore. All MPs from the State during the six years had contributed to the lapse.
