An estimated 20,000 delegates expected Meet to discuss various social issues HYDERABAD: President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate a four-day international conference of Arya Samaj here on January 3, organised by the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha. This is second time the city is hosting such a meet following the one held 35 years ago. The venue would be Vaidik Ashram Kanya Gurukul, Kundanbagh. Vithal Rao Arya, president, and T.V. Narayana, the sabha’s general secretary said here on Sunday that Swami Agnivesh, president, All-India Arya Samaj, would chair the meet at which Governor N.D. Tiwari and Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Medha Patkar would be present. An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 delegates, including 100 from the US, UK, South Africa and Mauritius would attend. Leaders of all religions including Sri Ravi Shankar of the Art of Living Foundation would participate. The conference would discuss all social issues facing the people, like female foeticide, dowry system, terrorism and communal harmony. The highlights include formation of human chain on January 3 at Necklace Road in support of human rights and against social evils, and inauguration by the President at 5 p.m. DebateThere would be a debate on social justice on January 4 and a ‘Praja Parliament’ on January 5 to discuss women/farmer’s issues and SEZs. Mr. Tiwari would participate in the concluding session.
