Bishop Cotton bags a double

BANGALORE: Bishop Cotton boys and girls triumphed in the Glucovita inter-school tennis tournament at the KSLYA courts here on Sunday.

Bishop Cotton boys downed Sri Kumaran’s Public School 2-1 in the final, while Cotton girls won over Sri Kumaran’s Children’s Home 2-0 in the title clash.

In the Open events, B.S. Rahul of Aurobindo Memorial scored a 6-4, 6-2 win over Anurag Sipani of NPS for the boys under-13 title, while Shruthi Ashok (Kumaran’s Children’s Home) proved too good for Tarini Chandramouli (Vidyashilp) 6-4, 6-3 in the corresponding girls final.

The results (All finals): Team events: Boys (U-16): Bishop Cotton bt Sri Kumaran’s Public School 2-1 (Rashien Samuel bt Sumukha Karanth 6-2, 6-0; Asaad Jaffer lost to Varun Sathyanarayan 7-6, 2-6, 6-2; Rashien / Asaad bt Sumukha / Varun 6-3, 6-2).

Girls (U-16): Bishop Cotton bt Sri Kumaran’s Children’s Home 2-0 (M.P. Nitha bt Nupur 6-0, 6-3; S.P. Ritu bt Shreya 6-1, 6-0).

Open events: Boys (U-16): Vishnu Jinan (NPS) bt Surjith Singh (Bhagirathi) 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.

U-13: B.S. Rahul (Aurobindo) bt Anurag Sipani (NPS) 6-4, 6-2.

Girls: U-16: Vidya Bharat (NIL) bt Vanvita D. Bhat (Sindhi) 6-1, 6-1.

U-13: Shruthi Ashok (Kumaran’s Children’s Home) bt Tarini Chandramouli (Vidyashilp) 6-4, 6-3.

BMS Law posts win

BMS Law won by five runs over KLE in the qualifying round match of the Vie 08 cricket tournament organised by SBMJC as part of the all-India inter-collegiate Sports fest at the Central College ground here on Sunday.

The scores: BMS Law made 124 (Harish three for 25, Vishal three for 15) bt KLE 119 for seven in 20 overs (Chetan 39, Upeksha four for 11).
