Vinoth, Rafik score centuries

Dindigul: Centuries by K. Vinoth Kumar (145, 9x6, 9x4) and M. Mohamed Rafik (101, 3x6, 7x4) helped St. Peter’s Cricket Club, Kodaikanal, chalk out a 250-run victory over Nike Cricket Club, Oddanchatram, in the Canara Bank-DDCA first division league on Sunday.

The scores:

First division: St. Peter’s CC 324 for eight in 45 overs (K. Vinoth Kumar 145, M. Mohamed Rafik 101, N. Vijayaraj four for 57) bt Nike CC, Oddanchatram, 74 in 17.1 overs. Second division: Vaigai CC 49 in 19.5 overs lost to All Rounders CC 51 for one in six overs. Third division: Yuvaraj CC, Palani, 161 in 19.5 overs (Vijaya Kumar four for 58) bt Aadith CC 118 for eight in 21 overs.

Jegadeesh shines

At Tirunelveli, Jegadeesh’s 88 helped Lightning CC defeat Melapalayam Educational Trust CC by 111-runs in the Tirunelveli DCA first division league on Sunday.

The scores: Lightning CC 217 in 31.3 overs (Jegadeesh 88, Saravanan 58, Saifullah four for 24) bt MET CC 106 in 26.4 overs.

Janardhanan third

At Madurai, V.S.M.R. Janardhanan of Madurai Union Club beat clubmate M.J. Rajesh Babu 150-135, 150-140, 140-150, 135-150, 150-145 for his only win in the semifinal round-robin league and claimed the third place in the Madurai Union Club’s 125th year district-level billiards-ranking tournament at Madurai on Sunday.

On Saturday, S. Murugesan of Southern Railway defeated M.J. Rajesh Babu 126-150, 70-150, 150-136, 150-131, 150-146 for his second win and set up a title clash with M. Senthil of Pot Black Centre, who also has got two win to his credit.

Hockey tournament
