Peripheral areas to be included in the project The proposal is under consideration of the Government CUTTACK: Cuttack city and its peripheral areas including Banki, Choudwar, Athagarh and Baranga would be developed into an integrated tourist destination. A proposal to this effect is under active consideration of the State Government. State Culture Minister S N Patro announced this on Thursday while speaking as one of the guests of honour at the inaugural function of Barabati dance festival. As part of this endeavour, the Netaji Subhash Birthplace National Museum here in the city would have a regular light and sound show, a documentary film show on Netaji’s childhood days and a sprawling landscape with a beautiful garden on the 110th birth anniversary of the legendary leader on January 23, Mr. Patro said. Wooing visitors“The State Government has decided to make the place more attractive from tourism point of view. Since Cuttack city is considered cultural capital of the State, the Government will make all-out effort to develop the historic city and its surrounding areas into a major tourist spot of the State,” the Minister said. Mr. Patro said a state-of-the-art light and sound evening show would be a regular feature at Netaji birthplace museum to attract visitors. He said efforts were on to prepare a documentary of one-hour duration to show the childhood days of the legendary leader in Cuttack city. “The 125-year-old double-storied, 15-room ancestral home of Netaji spread over 12 acres of land in Oriya Bazaar in the city, where Netaji was born on January 23, 1897, was converted into Netaji Subhash Birthplace National Museum. The Indian National Trust for Art and Culture (Intach) completed the renovation work conserving its originality in 2004.
