CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Command Area Development Authority has forwarded four irrigation projects worth Rs. 1065.75 crores to the Central Government for inclusion under Command Area Development and Water Management Programme, Irrigation Minister Ajay Singh Yadav said on Sunday. These projects will provide irrigation facilities over an area of 5.05 lakh hectares, he added. He further disclosed that these projects included Western Jamuna Canal Command Phase VI, Jawahar Lal Nehru Canal Command Phase II, Siwani Canal Command and Loharu Canal Command. He added that the Western Jamuna Canal Command Phase VI Project and Jawahar Lal Nehru Canal Command Phase II Project were approved by the Centre recently while approval was awaited for the Siwani Canal Command Project and Loharu Canal Command. The existing Command Area Development programme had been restructured and renamed as Command Area Development and Water Management programme on the matching basis of 50:40:10 by the Government of India, State Government and farmers. Restructured programmeUnder the restructured Command Area Development and Water Management programme only those components of the existing scheme were retained which were found beneficial to the farmers. The programme includes components such as construction of field channels and drains,training to technical staff and grants to water users’ associations, he disclosed.
