Anglo-Indian Guild seeks better deal
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: Members of the Anglo-Indian Guild have urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to direct the officials concerned to continue the school-fee reimbursement scheme for Anglo-Indian students.
The members led by guild president Joss A. Fernandez met the Governor here on Saturday and submitted a memorandum urging him to direct the officials to grant an average of Rs. 10,000 per annum to every Anglo-Indian student.
This was because most of the Anglo-Indian schools/ ICSE stream charged between Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 12,000, they said. Thanking the Governor for taking steps to providing reservation to students from the community in professional and technical colleges, the members urged him to ensure that the children from the community were not deprived of the benefits of the scheme.
