EC’s displeasure

The Election Commission’s expression of displeasure over Mr. Modi’s remarks on the encounter killing of Sohrabuddin and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for her ‘merchants of death’ remark during the election campaign proves its impartiality in dealing with complaints against political parties and leaders, howsoever powerful. Its orders bear ample testimony to the fact that the constitutional authority will safeguard the democratic principles and ensure that the election process is conducted in a free and fair manner.

S. Nallasivan,

Tirunelveli

Mr. Modi’s victory should in no way prevent the law from taking its course in the matter of Sohrabuddin’s killing. It is incomprehensible why the Election Commission did nothing more than admonishing him and Ms Gandhi.

Seshagiri Row Karry,

Hyderabad
