BHUBANESWAR: Versatile violinist Dayanidhi Behera would be the recipient of the Pandit Bhubaneswar Mishra Memorial Award for 2007. The award has been instituted by city-based music institution ’Shruti’ as homage to the late legendary music composer of the State. Announcing the award, ’Sruti’ founder-secretary and popular Odissi vocalist Bijay Kumar Jena informed the media that the institution would host a three-day festival of Odissi music and dance at Jayadev Bhawan here from January 3 to 5 when the award would be presented. Into its third annual edition, the festival aims at popularising Odissi music that is still struggling for a classical status at the national level, Jena explained.
