This is his fourth consecutive term to head the party 3 leaders for party constitution amendment team BHUBANESWAR: Proving his supremacy in his party organisation yet again, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was on Sunday re-elected unopposed president of Biju Janata Dal for the fourth consecutive term. Mr. Patnaik, who chose his team, also retained former Minister Damodar Rout in the party’s secretary general post. The BJD president also inducted former Minister of State for Finance Panchanan Kanungo as a member of the party’s State Executive Committee. Five vice-presidentsFive senior leaders A.U. Singhdeo, Prafulla Chandra Ghadai, Kalindi Behera, Prasanna Acharya and Prasanna Patsani were appointed vice-presidents of the party. Besides, 10 persons were appointed as general secretaries. They are Suryanaryan Patro, Raghunath Mohanty, Yagneswar Babu, Rabi Pani, Narendra Swain, Debasis Nayak, Atanu Sabyasachi, Debasis Samantray, N. Bhaskar Rao and Sarat Paikray. Further, seven leaders were appointed secretaries of the party. They are Priyadarshi Mishra, Anjali Kanungo, Ajit Hembram, Ramesh Majhi, Sanjaya Das Verma, Sarada Prasad Nayak and Saroj Samal. Jogendra Behera was appointed treasurer of the party. Mr. Patnaik also chose three senior leaders of the party Padmanabha Behera, Raghunath Mohanty and Kishore Mohanty as members of the party constitution amendment team. The State executive committee of the party, where all the names were announced at the party headquarters here, entrusted Mr. Patnaik the task of constituting the party’s disciplinary committee, political affairs committee, and other committees. Talking to presspersons soon after the meeting, the Chief Minister reiterated that BJD would continue to work for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden. The regional party, which has completed 10 years of its existence, is preparing to organise a massive rally in the city on its foundation day on December 26.
