New Delhi: Unable to crack fashion designer Mona Suri’s murder case, the Delhi police has approached a court here seeking permission to conduct narco-analysis tests on her husband and two others for leads. The investigation officer (IO), appearing before Metropolitan Magistrate Tarun Sehrawat, sought permission to conduct the tests on Naveen Suri, Mona’s husband, and his friends Rachna and Rajeev. The IO submitted that this has become necessary in view of the fact that they were allegedly not co-operating with investigators. The court, which earlier took strong exception to the tardy probe, asked the police to file a complete action taken report before it could take a decision in its plea on narco-analysis test. “The court would look into the aspect of granting permission to conduct narco-analysis tests on them after the complete report is filed,” it said while perusing a report, filed by the IO. The court, dissatisfied over the tardy probe into the case, had earlier summoned the ACP to personally appraise it of the status of the probe. Earlier, ACP Ram Gopal Naik had assured the court that he would personally supervise the ongoing probe into the murder of Suri, who was burnt to death outside her house in south Delhi four months ago. Manjeet Bawa, father of 35-year-old designer, had alleged that police seized a diary being maintained by Mona which contained notes hinting at ill-treatment by her husband Naveen Suri. But, the crucial evidence had not been collected by the investigation officer yet. Suri’s father alleged his daughter’s ill-treatment by her husband seemed linked to his alleged illicit relationship with a woman identified as Rachna. The petitioner alleged the Chittaranjan Park police have failed to take any steps to question them. The fashion designer was set ablaze by two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants outside her Greater Kailash house in south Delhi on August 12 after pouring kerosene on her. — PTI
