3 constables arrested

PUDUKOTTAI: Three constables attached to the Alangudi police station were arrested on Sunday. According to police, Ramesh of Ponneri near Chennai had come to Alangudi last week to obtain loan from a local money-lender Pannerselvam. Ramesh had reportedly brought a certain sum of money as ‘processing fee’ as the money-lender was said to have demanded it for forwarding a huge loan.
Pannerselvam had informed the constables of Ramesh’s possession of money. The constables N. Neelamegam (44) R. Kudiminathan (40) and M. Gopal (46) had confronted Ramesh and accused him of possessing black money. They seized the money and demanded Rs.1.35 lakh to avoid police action.
