Four-day international film festival from Tuesday

It will feature non-commercial films this year Theme of the festival is environment
CHENNAI: The four-day ‘International Film Festival of Tamil Nadu 2007’ will get under way at the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce theatre from December 25.
According to festival director Manicam Narayanan, it is being organised, in association with film and television production firm Seventh Channel Communications, for the fourth consecutive year. This year, it will feature non-commercial films. Nearly 20 films from more than a dozen countries would be screened.Festival organising secretary Mala Manian said the theme this year was environment, with special focus on the impact of global warming.
Themes of the previous editions have included ‘Togetherness’ and ‘Universal Love.’ In 2006, it was conducted as a children’s film festival, she said.
Besides films on environment, other genres would also be screened. Some of the films to be screened have bagged international awards and have been critically acclaimed.
