VIJAYAWADA: Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Sunday inaugurated the showroom of Tirumala Music Centre (P) Ltd., a noted retailer of consumer and electronics and home appliances, in Surya Towers on Mahatma Gandhi Road at Labbipet.

Addressing a meeting that followed the inaugural function, the Minister said it was good to see that these electronic gadgets, which were once within the reach of only the wealthier sections, had become commonplace today. Wishing the company a great success in its endeavour to entertain and provide comfort to its customers, he said the schemes launched by it were also attractive.

Telugu film actress Bhoomika, who graced the occasion along with her husband Bharat Thakur, said she was happy to be associated with the TMC. Pointing out that she had seen the company grow from strength to strength, she said one could not afford to ignore the role of the customers who had made the ‘unbelievable’ growth happen.

In lighter vein

Recipient of Dada Saheb Phalke award and thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao provided some lighter moments by lacing his speech with subtle humour. Pointing to Ms. Bhoomika, he recalled that she had made her debut with his grandson Sumanth in Telugu film Yuvakudu. “Then, she acted with my son but never considered me for a lead role against her. This is probably because she thought that I am old,” he said, amidst loud laughter and went on to add: “I can act with her even today,” prompting the petite beauty to release an infectious smile. Stating how close he was to the TMC family, the octogenarian said he had an equally strong bond with the city of Vijayawada where he did lot of theatre work and donned female characters before films happened. Pointing out that the company had recorded a turnover of Rs. 200 crores, he said it always believed in the policy of more turnover and less profits. TMC CMD Amarnath handed over a cheque for Rs. 51,000 to Dr. Krishna Kumari, who was bestowed with the title of ‘Paripoorna Mahila’.

Television anchor Jhansi, who was the compere of the show, announced the TMC’s inaugural offer of ‘Touch Your Luck @ TMC’, valid from December 23 to January 3.
