Thousands witness car festival
Special Correspondent
CUDDALORE: Thousands of devotees took part in the car processions taken out at Chidambaram in connection with Arudhra Darshanam of the Nataraja temple on Sunday.
Five decorated cars carrying the idols of Nataraja, Sivagamasundari, Vinayaka, Muruga and Chandigeswara went through the streets around the temple.
The idols would be kept in the Thousand-Pillar mandapam, where laksharchana and swarnabishekam would be performed till Monday morning. Special pujas would be conducted to the presiding deity at the sanctum sanctorum. A strong posse of police personnel, including Home Guards, provided security at the temple.
