Anil nets Kendriya Vidyalaya’s match-winner

HYDERABAD: Kendriya Vidyalaya (Picket) scored a solitary goal win over Gunrock in the Sudhakar memorial under-14 football tournament, organised by Shastri Soccer Club, at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here on Sunday.

The match-winner came in the first-half through striker P. Anil of a pass from Bharath.

In another match, Trimulgherry Village ‘B’ defeated Kendriya Vidyalaya (TVG) 3-1 with Sruya, Ajay and Kiran being the scorers for the winner while P. Atul reduced the margin for the loser.

Niharika wins

Niharika of Keyes High School clinched honours in the girls under-16 three-km race clocking 13.24.00 in the Hyderabad 10Kcross country run organised by the Hyderabad District Athletic Association at Osmania University here.

S. Vinay outplayed P. Varun Reddy in the boys’ under-12 qualifying round of the Prince AITA Talent Series tennis tournament organised by Surya Tennis Foundation at Model School Playground here.

Chaitanya shines

All-round show by D.G.J. Chaitanya, who struck 68 not out and then claimed three for 15, helped Vijaya Paul Cricket Academy record a 83-run win over Daniel Cricket Academy.

The scores: Under-11: VPCA 195 for three (D.G.J. Chaitanya 68 not out, Nitish Kaundinya 38 not out) bt Daniel CA 113 for six (Manish 40, Srinath 32, D.G.J. Chaitanya three for 15).

St. John’s CA 155 for seven (Varun 36) lost to Denzil CA 156 for two (Danish 57, Vivek 50 not out).

Under-13: ICFAI 55 (Sainath three for 10) lost to VPCA 58 for one.

Kurnool wins title

Kurnool boys won the 10th AP sub-junior inter-district sepak tekraw championship defeating Adilabad 21-15, 21-15.

The results: Girls: Final: Hyderabad bt Nellore 22-20, 21-9. Semifinals: Hyderabad bt Prakasham 21-11, 21-6; Nellore bt Krishna 11-21, 21-13, 15-12. Boys: Final: Kurnool bt Adilabad 21-15, 21-16. Semifinals: Adilabad bt Warangal 21-16, 21-15; Kurnool bt Krishna 21-14, 21-14.

AP has it easy

Andhra Pradesh recorded two wins in the league phase of the 53rd School Games Federation of India national kho kho championship being held in Kakinada, according to information received here.

Ajanta in final

Ajanta entered the kabaddi final of the 23rd DAE Sports Meet with a 53-14 win over Dwaraka at NFC Grounds here. In another semifinal, Rameshwaram defeated Golconda 53-10.
