BANGALORE: Rahul Ganapathy finishing the 18th hole on the final day one stroke behind Arjun Singh, would have thought “there goes another title chance.” But when Arjun, who just needed a par on the 18th, double bogeyed the last hole the title was Rahul’s.

The Mysore-based Rahul fought grittily on all days of the tournament. With scores of 70, 70, 72 and 71 Rahul finished one under 283 for the four rounds and deservedly won the purse of Rs. 4.85 lakh.

His final round card had four birdies (2nd, 4th, 5th and 13th) and three bogeys (6th, 7th and 12th).

“It’s a dream come true. I’ve waited a long time for this and can now set further goals,” Rahul said. “This win is for my father and I wish he was here to see me win,” he added. Rahul’s father was away at Mysore and could not be present.
