Several Ministers among the losers

Special Correspondent

Ahmedabad: Even as Narendra Modi won the election at Maninagar with a margin of 87,161 votes, defeating his nearest Congress rival Dinsha Patel, several of his ministerial colleagues were defeated, including Indravijaysinh Jadeja, Kaushik Patel, Bhupendrasinh Chudasma, Chatrasinh Mori, Prabhatsinh Chauhan, Dillip Thakore and Ratilal Sureja. All of them lost to Congress rivals. Most of his other 18 Ministers, and Assembly Speaker Mangaldas Patel, won.

Among the prominent Congress losers are the former Deputy Chief Minister, Narhari Amin (Matar), Chandrikaben Chudasma (Mangrol) and Naresh Raval (Mehsana).

The leading Congress winners include Leader of the Opposition Arjun Modhvadiya from Porbandar.
